By Karin R. BurzynskiThree fiberglass dolphins painted by Carrie Suber, wife of LT Luke Suber of VT-22, will be briefly on display at The Club until they are transported to Corpus Christi as part of the "Dances with Dolphins" public art exhibit which will end in November, 2004. Dusty Durill, a local philanthropist and Corpus Christi businessman, saw Suber's Navy Jet Trainer dolphin design and wanted to have at least three dolphins painted in this design-so they could be placed together and "in formation" and that they should stay together. Suber started painting the fiberglass sculptures in late May and finished them up in mid-June, thanks in large part to the guys at Corrision Control Facility. "They have been absolutely crucial to the project. I would like to thank them all for their support and advice," Suber said. She offered thanks to: Mark Runnels, Daniel Ley, Ernie Herrera, Dan Flynn, Lewis Howard, Frank Rodriquez, Refugio Rea, Jeff Zimmerle, Sean Carlisle, Jay Guerrero, Zon T, Bernie Bryant, Gary Catherman, Amador Garza, Randy Johnson, Johnny Benedit, and David Garza. Also she wanted to thank Vertex contractors for the use of the facility. To learn more about this project you can link to Dances with Dolphins |
