Navy League was created in 1902 with the encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt. A strong advocate of naval supremacy, President Roosevelt convince Congress of the need to complete the French failed attempt in building the Panama Canal. This "wonder of the world" was completed and placed in service in 1913. In 1906, the "Great White Fleet" set sail to demonstate "gunboat diplomacy." The maritime services are a vital segment of the armed forces. It is with this belief that Navy League was created.
